Honduras Reflections

The trip was INDESCRIBABLE! Honduras was nothing like what I had envisioned. Pictures and testimonies doesn't do the trip any justice. It is something that you must go and EXPERIENCE.

God really blessed us on this mission, as He guided us in building 31 houses, hosting 3 VBS', visiting an orphanage, a children's home and a hospital. We also were able to prepare over 400 bags of food and 100 bags of clothing for distribution before we had to leave.

There were times during the trip were I definitely felt like we were truly being Jesus. Washing the children's feet and giving them new shoes was by far the best part of the trip for me.

Our entire team was great! Each and every person truly loved it! We worked as a team! We served God together! We played with the children together! Everything was AWESOME!

I look forward to our Share Service coming up in a few weeks, so our students can share their experiences from the trip.

One last thought: While the Honduras Mission was awesome...to me it was more than that. It's about going to the ends of the Earth. It's about being all things to all people. Would I love to go back to Honduras next year? Yes, absolutely. Would I love the opportunity to go to Panama and help the Carters? Yes, absolutely. But the Mission is not just for 2 weeks during the summer. The mission is everyday of our lives and it is located wherever we are. We need to desire to go out and BE THE CHURCH.....EVERYDAY!

Day 11 (Thursday)

Well, sadly the Honduras trip has come to an early close.

We just received word that the President of Honduras may be coming back in this weekend and they would shut down all flights, so we moved our flight to Friday. No safety issues, just trying to be smart.

I will do a reflection blog in the next day or two, but for now I will tell you about today. We finished 3 more houses to total out at 31. We also sorted and prepared 400 bags of food to be distributed as well as over 100 bags of clothing.

In 11 days, we have accomplished a ridiculous amount of work. Here is the key, we didn´t do anything. God did it ALL and used us as HIS instruments.

We fly in to Miami around 6:30pm and then make the journey to Orlando. Should be home around midnight. Pray for our travel.

See everyone soon.

Day 10

What can I say? God blessed us again today. We have been doing so well with material, supplies, resources, weather, etc that they work is getting done well and at a rapid pace.

Our three construction crews put up another house each today, which if my math is right puts us at 28 houses. Then our fourth crew went a local village and divided into 2 smaller groups. One group painted the day care, while the other crew dug out dirt from around the church building. The church is built right on the side of a mountain. And they have been having issues with mudslides. However, there are a lot of other houses above them so mud wasn't the only brown stuff we we're shoveling (enough said about that). Travis, Andy and I headed up that crew and it was a tough and long job. We we're able to shovel out the dirt, but I'm afraid that was a short term fix for a long term problem.

Tonight we eat dinner here at the hotel, have a devo and then we are off to play some soccer. Should be a lot of fun.

Everything in Honduras is going well! God is really blessing this trip and it is so evident!

Day 9 (Tuesday)

Yesterday, God blessed us with another great day! We built 3 more houses, which raise our total to 25 houses overall!

We also hosted our third VBS, we have served around 350 children with our VBS´, which also mean that we have given 350 pairs of new shoes to children who desperately need them.

Today (Wednesday) our food is supposed to arrive. If that is the case, then we will sort it all out. Bag it up and have a food distribution within the next day or two. We still have that service, a clothing drive, another VBS, another hospital visit and 10 more houses to build.

Lots of work still to be done, so continue to pray that God will continue to lead this mission!
